Choosing a PokéDive starter

There is no published “best starter.” All 27 current choices evolve at 25 and 50 and learn their own type’s specials. Pick by the job you want in town.

A preference, not a tier

Search results for this phrase are almost entirely other Pokemon games. I am not importing those charts. Inside PokéDive the real difference on minute one is the species, its types, and the town job those types unlock later. Grass, water, bug and ground feed berries. Fire sits with the material crew (rock, ground, fighting, steel, fire). A water starter such as Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, Oshawott, Froakie, Popplio, Sobble or Quaxly feeds berries, not shards.

If your first goal is berry production, a grass line such as Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig, Snivy, Chespin, Rowlet, Grookey or Sprigatito matches the berry patch. If you want the material pile for houses, a fire line matches the quarry. That is an editorial preference based on the job table, not a win-rate. Partner bond grows with floors from version 0.3. Nobody has published clear rates per starter.

The full region grid is on the Pokemon list. No ranking supported by two independent community lists was found; the sortable roster provides the current choices.

Questions

Is Charmander the best?

No source ranks Charmander above the other 26. Fire types feed the quarry. That is the concrete difference.

Can I change my starter?

The public notes do not describe a starter swap. Later partners come from rescues and eggs.

Do starters share the same moves?

Each one learns the specials of its own type, from version 0.3. They do not share one universal kit.
